My Interests

Gaming

One of my favorite and longest-standing interests, video games have had a massive influence on who I am today.

I have been playing numerous types of video games for as long as I can remember, from sport simulation games, like Madden, NBA2K, or Nascar, to more animated games like Pokemon or Mario-related games. They have had a big influence in my life up to this point and is a partial reason as to why I became interested in Computer Science.

Music

Ever since I was young, I have always had a great appreciation for music of all types, but especially live music in any form.

I was around the performance of music ever since I was 10 years old, with my older sister being in the high school band at that time. I was always drawn to the emotion and energy that comes from music, especially with the percussive instruments. This was the main reason as to why I chose to become a percussionist within my younger life, and I loved every second of it. Music taught me that some achievements in life take time and perseverance. Yet, despite the hard work, challenges, and effort, the end result can be something truly beautiful.

Football

A photo of Nissan Stadium at a Tennessee Titans Game.

I have been a huge fan of football every since I was young. I generally like to follow the Tennessee Titans, but more recently I have gotten more in the college footbal scene with the Memphis Tigers and Tennessee Vols.

I grew up in a household that always watched the Titans football games every Sunday at noon, and over time this translated to myself doing the same. I really enjoy the sort of chess match that the sport is, with all the adjustments and mind games that each offense and defense plays against each other. Also, the energy and emotion within the game keeps me on the edge of my seat every game.

As I've been in college, I really have enjoyed the atmosphere of the Memphis Tigers game in a similar fashion, where every game feels like a surprise as to what is going to happen, regardless of prediction. It is kind of a bummer that the Titans have not been realtively good for my lifetime, but regardless of this, I still will root for them each and every gameday.

I still remember my first game as a kid, when we were way up in the nosebleed sections of LP Field, now known as Nissan Stadium, and all of the players looked like ants to me. I got a foam finger with my dad that game, and to this day, I still cherish and have that foam finger from the early 2000's. Football is not only a sport to me, but also a standing reminder of some of the great memories I have with not only the sport, but with my family. The memories I've made, all the ups and downs that come with being a fan of a certain team, and all of the other emotions of success and failure within keeps me invested in the sport, for now and most likely for the rest of my life.

Thrifting

Ever since I have gotten into college, I have really enjoyed the thrill of going to antique stores and thrift-related stores to try to see what I can find.

I really enjoy the act of thrifting mainly because you never know what you will find. I have found numerous pieces of clothing, posters, or other things like a lamp and blankets that really still have a lot of life left. I prefer the older designs of things, when everything was less minimalistic and more unique within itself. Also, with clothing in particular, I feel that older things were just built with more quality in comparsion to the modern-day versions of the same item. It is a thrill to me to find things that are cool that I can also justify buying, and it is partially fun to give an item that someone no longer wanted a new life.

I have always liked to find things myself rather than ordering online or through other venues because I feel like if I find it myself, I will value and appreciate it a lot more. Also, with the prices of items in the modern-day, I feel it is justified more than ever. It really allows me to wear and decorate how I want to an extent, without having to also break the bank at the same time. More recently, I had went to ThriftCon within Louiville, Kentucky with my good friend, and it really was one of my favorite experiences within the whole scope of thrifting. Although people really like to resell clothing at extremely high prices, getting to see all the different styles of shirts and the history/thoughts behind each design is really enjoyable experience to me.

Traveling

A photo I took of New York City's skyline on the water.

Ever since I went to New York in high school, I really have enjoyed getting to see how beautiful the world is outside of Tennessee.

When I was a kid, I really did not enjoy traveling a whole lot to be completely honest. I really was more event oriented and only cared about what I did, rather than where it was at. As I have gotten older, I really have completely flipped on this perspective. I haven't fully experienced what life has to offer thus far, with the only two major locations I've experienced being New York City and Panana City Beach. I could not get enough of how much beauty each of these areas had to offer. Getting to see the different cultures, city designs, and lifestyles that exist in each city is just amazing to me. The sheer beauty of each city, along with the sites to see and foods to eat, really just make each area unique. I love getting to expereince the different parts of what makes us human, and traveling allows me to get a small glimpse of how life can be drastically different depending on what area you live.

I feel that as a person, it is drastically important to me to experience what the entire world has to offer, from the beauty of Italy, to the culture and history of Japan. It amazes me that each culture has their own methods, practices, and ways of life that would seem extremely foreign if I were to just stay within the United States. In the modern-day, I can always search up a photo of an area and read about what each area is like, but I feel that I can never truly experience what an area has to offer without actually experiencing it myself. I also would most-likely get memories and experiences that you cannot put a monetary value on, that would be remembered for the rest of my life.
